Added 2022-06-13 02:30:35 +0000 UTCAfter escaping my scary marriage last year, I remember sleeping on this mattress on the floor (of a small bedroom in my parents house) and feeling euphoric in comparison to the life I was previously living… THEN, in October last year, I moved out and into my own rundown home with no heat or hot water - sometimes no water at all. (Remember those posts?) It was ridden with bark scorpions, ants & roaches all while I slept on my mattress on the floor… and I remember THAT feeling euphoric in comparison to my old life. Slowly, but surely, in the last 8 months this house has gone from rundown and broken, to a beautiful home that I’m incredibly proud of - with a few scorpion visits to keep me on my toes. Anyway, the one room that has still needed fixing up was my bedroom and- yes, I’ve slept with my mattress still on the floor since moving in 8 months ago. Anyway, I was finally able to make a proper room for myself this weekend! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone and everyone who has helped contribute to a better life for this lady - and for (unknowingly) helping me get this mattress off the floor ;) I think this is my only “before” picture I have in my old bedroom… But I’m shooting in my pretty new room tonight, so stay tuned!
